Identifying Energy Loss

Clawing back energy losses can result in companies achieving a return on investment in under a year. Savings of tens or even hundreds of thousands of euros a year is possible short-term (depending on equipment, stream size and the energy market). Manufacturing and process-intensive industries typically leave significant profitable revenue growth on the table, by not addressing these energy losses.

In a distressed energy market with exploding prices, customers are targeting energy drains to achieve productivity and profitability. Only by consistently meeting customer targets has aixprocess delivered time after time - across industries and geographies. Through the consistent application of basic engineering principles, aixprocess can identify the biggest money drains - including the hidden sources of revenue drains that customers are not usually paying attention to.

Process optimisation may not sound sexy, but it can mean the difference between profitability and loss. Simply by changing process configuration and heat recovery, for example, a manufacturer can identify enthalpy streams which can be utilised optimally. For example, a recent customer asked aixprocess to engineer an oxygen upgrade in a post-combustion process. After analysing the mass and heat balance, the aixprocess team eventually found a way for a stream to be routed into a post-combustion chamber. This substitution resulted in a first step towards the desired increase in oxygen levels. This required more effort, but led to further optimisations when bandwidth and budgets opened up.
